Subject: can i overclock this crappy pc.
Comment:

i hhave an emachines etower 333cs, (very crappy and actually runs at 250) its got a cyrix m2 mmx processor. i am putting many new things in the pc(memory, hard drive, burner, modem, network card), accept i cannot afford a motherboard and a processor at the time, however i can afford a new processor, but i dont know how much this crapy board supports.

ive heard of two ways of overclocking (1.dip switches, and 2.in bios changing the frequency)

i did not find anything about frequency in bios, and there are dip switches, but i dont know what way they should be set to over clock... does anyone know how to over clock an emachines etower 333cs. the bios is americanmegatrends and the board is delhi. i dont know the model or version, but if its nessecary i will download and run wincpuid.

here is a page i found on google, i dont know if it is correct, maybe someone can tell me.

it tells about what processors are supported by the delhi3, and what memory is supported, and what the dip switch settings are.

also according to it, it says that amd k6 2 and 3 and plus, are supported, but it currently has cyrix (which is also the same as via) i am confused why it didnt mention cyrix or via.

You forgot another way to overclock...jumper settings...that's what this board has. If you don't know what jumpers are, this site may help explain:

http://www.pcmech.com/byopc/step/4/

All the jumper & DIP switch settings that you need are at the website that you posted.

Cyrix CPU's are not very overclockable...generally they run pretty close to max capacity with the factory settings. Because of this, they tend to run fairly hot. They're best suited for business applications anyways.

Your best bet would be to go with a K6-2 or K6-3. Your board has a max FSB (Front Side Bus) setting of 100MHz & a max Multiplier setting of 5.5x. Therefore, you could run up to a 550 MHz CPU (100MHz x 5.5 = 550MHz). Of course, you can run a slower CPU...400, 450, 500 if you want. You have to decide how much you wanna spend. I think you can get a 500 for about $30 online.

You don't say how much memory you have. You should have a minimum of 128 megs...BestBuy has 128 meg sticks of PC133 RAM on sale this week for $13 after rebate. 256 megs is even better. I don't think I'd bother with more than that. I'd say that for less that $60 you can make that old emachine scream!

Hello I have a K6-2 350mhz. What do I need to do to overclock it to 450?
