i built a pc with an intel vc820 board (now discontinued):slot 1 p2 or p3 up to 1ghz.
the processor i got is an intel p3 retail attached heatsink and fan, secc2, slot 1, 850, 100msb, 256KB on die cache.
I dont know if my mobo or bios supports it, i am using the latest bios, at least i think its the latest (p18).
CAN IT BE OVERCLOCKED, i use the pc mostly for dvd and divx, so the faster the speed, the less it makes my movies skip.

I would look in the BIOS for frenquecy control. Overclocking over 10% will cause a risk. Another way to get DVD's playing without skipping is to run msconfig and disable startup items, and use classic folders.

divx only needs 450, 850 is more than enough, unless u installed alot of useless programs in your comp

yeah, i got a lot of audio recording stuff on here too, but i dont have them open when i watch movies, so i dont know why that would matter, and i shut everything down accept the movie player.

Is your DVD-R on the same IDE as your HDD? If so this can some times cause slow performance. Cant see why its making alot of difference if your just playing directly from the DVD but its worth thinking about.
