I would like to know if its possible to upgrade my processor, what are the best cpu's that are compatible with my motherboard which is a MSI AMETHYST M, my chipset is ATI Xpress 200 (RS480)

The AmethystM is an HP board. Looks like the fastest CPU you can use is the S939 X2 4800+.

The only question is do you want to pay that much for something that is that outdated? It's def not worth the 200+ dollars that it's going for, when you can buy a quad core processor that will smoke the S939 X2 4800+ for around the same price or dual cores processors that are 100+ dollars cheaper that will greatly out-pace the X2 4800+. If I were you, i'd just start looking to buy or build another system.
