Comment:

My computer has two drives and i would like to combine to one drive with more memory capability. I have formatted the D: to NTFS but my C:, which has very little memory left after operating systems and Internet programs, is very slow. My question is is it possible to remove the partitions to combine both drives and have all the memory available for file activity. Mind you the D: is completely empty because my computer defaults all downloads and installations to the C:.?????????/

when you install a program, usally in the begining it tells you the default folder, and there is a option to change or browse. Before you install the program, open the D drive, right click on it go to new folder then rename the folder (eg.AOL). When you do the install choose browse or change, and navigate to that folder. Try it with something that you have the CD for, and is taking up alot of space on the C drive (like AOL). As for recombining the partitions, ther are 3rd party programs that can do this, but you better back anything you don't want to loose. probabaly would get a better answer if you repost in the XP forum

use a program like partition magic, also i do believe compaq and hp have programs you boot boot to which delete the D:\ drives

Nothing's broken until you choose not to fix it.

And keep in mind that hard drives are about storage, they are not memory.
