Comment:

i just built my first computer myself and having a major issue. i finished everything with the directions i was given as far as hardware building but there seems to be a big problem.

when i turn the computer on to begin the software/hard drive set up it has this extremely loud high pitch shriek of a noise that doesn't stop unless i turn off the computer. nothing appears on screen. it just makes the noise.

the specs on the computer are as follows:

motherboard: EVGA 122-CK-NF67-T1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i LT SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

hard drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

power supply: SILVERSTONE DA750 ATX 12V 2.2 & EPS 12V 750W Power Supply

video card: EVGA 512-P3-N841-A3 GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6850

DVD-Rom Drives: SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S203B

Memory: G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ

i only have one memory stick in because vista couldn't handle it if i had two in until i get that patch.

i really would like to set up my computer. could someobody please help me.

The 1st thing you should ALWAYS do before installing any hardware in the case is to benchtest the motherboard.

Double check all your connections, make sure all the motherboard standoffs are in the right locations, make sure the PCIe power plug is connected to your video card, etc. Basically, run thru everything again. If you can't get it sorted out, gut the case & benchtest the board.

The Motherboard has a little error screen, check the code and relate back to the error codes in the manual!!
