Hi guys,

Just installed a brand new celeron D processor into my PC (2.8Ghz, Socket 775, new heatsink, etc (this is not the first time Ive installed a new processor, done it a few times before with success!) and the computer basically keeps turning itself off when its being "worked", as I call it!

Upon starting the computer up, and logging into the BIOS, the cpu temperature is rising to above 75 degrees c, which is apparently too hot for it. Its basically preventing the computer from starting up, and its very frustrating!!!!!

Any ideas?

Rog

No thermal paste or the Heatsink is not sitting squarely on the CPU

Make sure you put the thermal compound or tape on right. I have a D CPU also and i just made a thin layer on the CPU (almost if not translucent) and make sure your heat seank is tuching your processor. I used a zip lock bag and put my finger in it to spread the thermal paste around. I heard that a Intel 3.2 D will idle around 55C and run around 60C - 70C. I know that some Thermal Compounds take a couple of days before they start breaking in.
