Comment: Here is the system: Asus a7v333 athalon xp 1900 512mb ddr 2700 crucial 80gb western hd plex 40/12/40 toshiba 16x dvd sb live 400 watt skyhawk power supply geforce 3 ti 200 64mb Last night I was able to get my computer to boot and installed xp and some programs on the hd. However this morning when I attempted to turn the computer it did not post. I disconnected everything but the memory, motherboard, cpu, power supply, video card, keyboard, floppy, and monitor and attemped again. The power to the case fans would go on as would the power to the drives in the first case, but the cpu fan would not go on and the cpu was not warm at all. I checked all the connections several times and tried removing the motherboard from the case and it still did not start. Also I noticed last night using asus probe that the 12v lead on the motherboard power cord was at 13.5 volts, but xp was running fine at the time and it wasn't even set to mention the excess voltage if it was under 13.2 according to the asus default settings. If anyone has any suggestions to what the problem is I could use the help.

Reply: (edit)Hi, Did you leave your computer running overnight before this disaster happened? The only reason I could think of is you have a fried CPU. If you can borrow someone an AMD XP CPU to try on to confirm this. I had the same problem before and it was my CPU :-) Hope this help and your system is still under warranty so you can get a new CPU.

Reply: (edit)I have a similar problem with my AMD. It's an Athlon XP 1900 with and Aopen Kt-333 board. The system boots more often than not, but when it doesnt, the bios screen comes up but then the system just hangs. Not sure what the problem is but i've been looking into it for the past two days. I'm starting to think it's either my powersupply or my board. I'll keep you posted on the prob.
