Hi,
I've a booting problem.

Each time I turn on my PC, the system hangs for several mins before displaying the BIOS execution and continuing to Windows booting.

And sometimes after booting WinXP, the display will turn fuzzy. I have to restart the PC again. Subsequent reboots don't have these problems. The problems occur only after I shutdown the PC for some time.

I tried loading the BIOS, twicking the BIOS settings, reinstalling the hardwares on the mainboard, but the problems persist.

Please help me. It's been some time already. The problem is driving me crazy.

My PC's config is as follow:
Mainboard= MSI K7N2 Delta-L
CPU= AMD AthlonXP 2.6GHz
RAM= 1GB running Double DDR
Harddisk= Total 3 disks (2 on RAID PCI card)
CD/DVD Drives = 2 Burning Drives

Thank you for helping.

Thanks,
Vandz

Is this a new problem, or have you had it for a while? If it's new, have you made any changes lately...either software or hardware?

I just answered a question about power supplies, so I guess I have PSUs on the brain...lol...so my question is, what's the wattage of your PSU & how are the amps distributed across the +3.3v, +5v, & +12v rails? Primarily, the +12v rail is the one to be concerned about...especially with all those drives.

The problem's been quite a while now. It didn't used to be so serious. But recently the boot delay is getting quite bad. Sometimes it'll take more than 5 mins before I get to see the BIOS exe. And after it goes into WinXP, the display fuzzes out! And I'll have to reboot again.

Mine's a 400W PSU. I can't tell apart the different power voltages, but I'm using quite a number of power points meant for harddisks and CD/DVD drives. They're being used for 3 of my fans too. Total 8 points are being used. Could that be the problem?

And how do I check for boot virus? Some kinda special application I need to execute?

Really appreciate your help. Thank you so much.

Thanks,
Vandz
