I currently buidling a computer. I have an abit kg7 motherboard. And an AMD XP16000. I successfully installed windows 2000 with my video card. I shut my computer down and was gonna install my sound card. I started it back up and the 2000 froze up. It sat their for like 3 minutes. So i power kill and tried restarting. After i tried restarting i get a blank screen with a lot of beeps. What can I do to get back to windows???????? or to fix this problem. THANKS!!

Pay attention to the length of the indivdual beeps (for example long-short-short) and the number. This with your bios type (Award, AMI, ect..) will let you diagnois what is wrong, for the most part.

It beeps forever and never stops. It has phoniex bios.

I don't know the particular warnings for your mobo, but make sure that your graphics card is pushed all the way into the slot. Also make sure that the video cable is pushed all the way onto the video card.

it works just fine. tHE video drivers are installed. I think maybe its a memory issue. Not sure

The dreaded POST, very scary when troubleshooting. ok heres what you gotta do, listen for the first couple of beeps, see if what type of pattern they make, some long and some shorter...I know you mentioned that they beep forever but the first couple should tip you off on what it is, my guess is that it is memory so remove all your memory and go to a single dimm and take turns swaping slots and dimms. let me know how things go!!! I would be happy to help! heres something of some use in the future!

Thats is what i thought so i bought anohter stick of ram and tried it. Still nothing. I also have a different video card. Tried that Still nothing.
