BIOS Update

I tried updating my bios with my motherboard manufacturers bios instead of the OEM crap, and every time i tried i got a message that says "The program file's part number does not match with your system!". What is causing this and how can i fix it? My board is an FIC AM-37.
I'm not sure what you mean by OEM. Do you mean a third-party hacked bios? I doubt there is one for that mobo.

That is the same BIOS im trying to update with. I tried using a program that installs it from windows and i think i may have possibly killed the BIOS and therefore im afraid to reboot.

windows bios updates are less problematic than they get blamed for. As long as you end task everything else first that is. If I were you I would reboot with my fingers crossed. There is no advantage to doing nothing.

Im afraid that if i reboot my system will be inoperable. I leave it on most of the time anyway. I was planning on buying a new board and video card this summer so if it turns out that i did render my board useless(hopefully not), it wont be too much of a problem.

Also, in system properites and Everest it shows all the BIOS information correctly. Is this a sign that my board may be fine after all? Its getting a bit late, so im going to sleep.

If your BIOS chip is socketed like most are rather than fixed then it can always be replaced if you screw it up anyway. It cost me £12.50 last time.
