bios update

I recently upgraded my bios in order to allow my system to detect my new hard drive. Everything works fine now, but my computer is performing very poorly. My framerates are pathetic, and my applications are running very badly. Is it possible that my bios update decreased the performance of my computer? I know it is possible, but is it likely?
What may have happened, is that when you updated your bios, it reset to bios defaults on everything. Any thing that you had changed in your old bios version, thus got reset. Check everything in bios to make sure it is set where you want it (had it under old bios).
Personally, I have never done a bios update, Though I do know that when you flash the bios, you are overwriting everything in bios.
If you have done the above AND you are using winXP, I suggest the culprit is XP, since it is tied to the bios via WPA (reduced functionality).
Hope that helps you!

I agree with Charles Bradshaw.
If you have your MOBO manual, it may have a detailed section on BIOS settings that will guide you through the process.
