I have an Athlon XP 2100+ that worked fine, but at some point my bios started telling me it's a regular Athlon running at 829 Mhz. I have an ECS K7S5A pro mobo, which doesn't let me change processor speed in bios. All I can do is change memory/fsb speed. Any tips???

I am guessing the default setting for your FSB is 100mHz? Bump it up to 133mHz... I am not sure as to why it wouldn't recognize that it is an XP though? Take a look at the processor and see if there is a model number on it. Make sure it is an actual 2100.

the k7s5a does default to 100fsb as pointed out above. You want to change it to 133fsb.
But 892mhz is a number that makes no sense. Your bios may have gotten corrupted and a reflash is in order.

Your mobo does not have a 66mhz setting, which is just one reason why 829mhz makes no sense. The other reason is that a 2100+ has a multipler of 13, but 829 = 12.5 x 66, so you have an improperly detected multiplier as well.
This 66mhz number is a pll chip bug that happens on some k7s5a boards. A bios flash may fix it and/or the multiplier problem.

Even if the bios flash does not fix the problem,
cpu-z will tell you what you're actually running at, assuming your symptoms are the result of pll bug, which is a reporting-error only.http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-118.zip

I installed CPUZ and it says I'm running at 829 MHz. (66x12.5). I've tried all the bus setting in the bios, but it didn't change anything. I flashed the bios, and still no change. It's still under warranty; maybe I should try to get the mobo or processor replaced?
