Subject: Bios Problem after overclockingOS: XP ProCPU/Ram: 3500+/1gbModel/Manufacturer: me |
Comment: Hi all, i wanted to overclock my AMD Atlon 3500+, ive never done it before but after looking at a number of forums i thought id give it a go. I went into the bios and changed the CPU Frequency from 200 to 205. It rebooted and loaded windows ok i looked in the sytem proporties and the CPPU was now running at 2.26 insted of 2.21ghz so i turned the pc off and re-started it. When i restarted i got 5 beeps and a message saying "Warning Backup BIOS Checksum Error" The computer then went into the dual bios and said it was verifing/ erasing the bios. Once complete it restarted and loaded windows fine. However i shut down the PC again and the same error appears it does its thing again and then loads windows fine. I put the CPU Frequency to 200 again but the dame happens. Any Ideas guys, you have helped me so uch in the past lets see if you can again! Oh my motherboard is a gigabyte K8NXP-SLI all my stuff is listed in my signature Mark AMD Athlon 64 3500+ sct 939 Gigabyte K8NXP-SlI Radeon X700pro 256mb 1GB Kingston value ram 3200 Audigy 2 ZS 200GB Maxtor SATA HDD DVD Rom

Reply: (edit)Have you tried clearing your cmos? If you havent, you should shut down your PC, unplug it from the mains and either clear the cmos using a jumper on the motherboard(if your board has one), or take the battery out of your motherboard, leave it out for about 30 seconds, pop it back in and see if it will boot.
