Ok, I am new to this site so apologies,
I have a few questions.Firstly relating the dual core intel atom, for netbooks, processor which runs at a 1.6ghz speed. I was just wondering is each single core 0.8 Ghz or 1.6 Ghz.As I am thinking of purchasing a netbook could somone please help. Also are these netbooks able to play games and are nvidia going to enter into the netbooks???
Secondly, I am looking to update my BIOS as I wish to overclock my processor, a Core 2 Duo E4500 @ 2.2 Ghz. If I need to post more info on my current BIOS please instruct me on what info. My PC is a Medion and the model is Professional PC or so as my system tells me.
Thanks in advance, Apologies if I have breached any rules of this site as i don't know if I have.

Both cores run at 1.6GHz.
Netbooks aren't good gamers at all. Clock for clock, the Atom (single core) isn't much better than the old Willamette P4.
The "high-end" netbooks are equipped with GeForce 9300GS chipsets. While 9300GS-based netbooks are much faster than those based on Intel's GMA950, you still wouldn't want to use one as a gaming machine.
In this review, techreport.com said that "the 9300M GS is too much GPU for the [Atom-based] N10J."
I doubt that you'll find any overclock-friendly BIOS update for your Medion. You'll probably have to take the software route.C2D performance from Socket 939:
Opty 185 @ 3.2GHz
4GB CL2 DDR400
2x 8800GTS in SLI
X-Fi Titanium Pro PCI-E
Blu-Ray
A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Vista 64
24" Samsung

Thanks for the quick reply, So really the atom is 3.2Ghz an I'm just wondering why they're no good gamers as even call of duty 5 spec says 3.0 Ghz recommended speed. Also would the atom be able to be overclocked or even if it could how would it respond to overclocking.
Would you have a link to some software which I could use. However, I used the software RivaTuner to try and overclock my Geforce 8600GS but i'm nearly 100% sure it made no difference and would this be the same for the processor.

"So really the atom is 3.2Ghz"
No, both cores run at 1.6GHz. The core speeds are NOT combined. The majority of the time, you will just be running on one core anyway. I highly doubt that it's overclockable...what would be the point?
"I'm just wondering why they're no good gamers"
jackbomb already explained it. The CPU is weak & the graphics suck. They're called Netbooks for a reason, because they're designed for internet surfing. They're not meant for gaming or running intense programs & they don't have optical drives...you would have to buy an external.
As for your Medion PC, unless you can post the make/model of the motherboard, it's impossible to point you to a possible BIOS update. What would be the point anyway? Have you checked your current BIOS to see if it has the necessary options for overclocking?
Here's an article on software overclocking:

Yes I have already checked the BIOS along with a friend and both of us have concluded that the current BIOS isn't overclockable. How could I check the make/ model of the notherboard?

Ok I have some info on the motherboard and current BIOS. Motherboard is a made by Medion and model is MS-7366. The current BIOS is American Megatrends Inc. version A7366MLN.20D

MSI produced 3 boards that are all known as MS-7366. The model numbers are P6NGM-L, P6NGM-FD, & P6NGM-FIH. Reflashing the Medion BIOS to the MSI BIOS version is risky so I hope you know what you're doing & are willing to accept the consequences if you botch the flash.
What you need to do is determine which MSI model number is the correct one for your board. I compared the specs between the 3 & it should be fairly easy. All you need to do is look at which video-out the board has:
P6NGM-L - VGA only
P6NGM-FD - 1 VGA, 1 DVI, no HDMI
P6NGM-FIH - 1 VGA, no DVI, 1 HDMIOnce you determine which board you have, here's where you can download the BIOS:
Once you download the file & unzip it, the BIOS file, flash utility & instructions on how to flash will all be in the folder. Hopefully you have a floppy drive. If not, I suggest you try using the "Live Update".
You're on your own from here....
