Comment: I have a matsonic ms9158E via p4m266a and in the mobo manual it says that the " bios firmware supports cpu paramenters and memory timings, cpu and memory timings, and the firmware can also be used to set parameters for different processor clock speeds" I have ami bios and have two jumpers on my mobo for 100 mhz and 133mhz fsb. In the bios its says that the the fsb is locked at 133mhz. what should I do to unlock the fsb for my p4 2.40 bghz and can I get my processor to 2.66ghz safely. how can I get updates for bios because matsonic doesnt have any yet. firewire

Reply: (edit)The manual refers to 100 and 133 when it says "different speeds", and this change is accomplished by using a jumper. If you make the jumper change and then go back into bios you'll see it now at 100 instead of 133. So the firmware setting has indeed been changed, you just had to do it physically. AMI bios, like all bioses, offer the motherboard bios programmers the ability to set the fsb to pretty much anything they want. Though AMI gives them this ability, many mobo makers, including matsonic in your board's case, choose to only give the user the ability to switch between 100 and 133. There may be other ways to switch your fsb through windows software but ya got me. But you can't go over 133 through a motherboard setting or bios setting with that board.
