I left my laptop over at a friends house and when I tried to shut it down, I was forced to boot it b/c the screen was not coming up. Now every time I turn it on, it turns on, then quickly shuts off.

Is it under warranty? If so, you should contact dell instead of us. It could be your friend broke the laptop somehow....

But you need to describe the problem in more details...

"Now every time I turn it on, it turns on, then quickly shuts off."

At which point does it shut down? Windows Splash screen? BIOS? Windows Logon Screen" Desktop???
