Which Cpu would be better for gaming... It would be good if jam could answer this...

Dw about the "Optima" part in #2 it was a copy mistake

Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 then just overclock it and you will have a nice gaming cpu.

Core 2 is better than P4. Gaming or otherwise.

And yes, ALL CPUs today are 64bit. Relax.

The Core2 is the FASTEST CPU currently available...period!! It's faster than anything made by AMD & faster than ALL previous Intel CPUs.

The E6300 is the low end of the Core2 series, but it's still beats all P4's. Here's a direct gaming comparison, E6300 vs X2 3800+ vs D945:

I was going to ask what rock this gman has been living under.

Not only does AMD not have anything to counter those Conroe (Core 2 Duo) CPUs from Intel at the present time, they definitely won't be having an answer to Intel by a long shot for a while.

From your prior thread on more or less same subject, you'd indicated you would be buying a pre-built retail computer as opposed to putting one together yourself. It might make things a lot easier for you, but you won't have 100% flexibility to customize the components yourself.

At this time I would recommend the P5B Deluxe from ASUS and the Core 2 Duo E6600 in terms of overall benefit after things like price, performance, overclock have been considered - with the E6600 you'll be getting roughly the same performance as the Athlon64 FX62 processor at roughly half its cost while using 30% less power, and you could overclock it far more than the FX62, should you decide to.

You could also wait for the DFi to launch the RD600 or nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition chipset based motherboard before you pull the trigger but if you are not an enthusiast then you really should not bother. The low-end (2MB) E6300 & E6400 will still tear the FX a new one.

Who knows maybe between now & the time you are ready to pull the trigger, you'd have learnt enough that you'll want to try your hands on a custom build afterall ;-)
