That's a hard question to answer. To start with you should setdown and decide what you intend to use the puter for. If you plan to do just websurf or wordproc than just get yourself a comp from a rep. company. Now if you plan to tweek a computer for games then you just opened up the universe. Don't buy any white box items. SEARCH WEB FOR OVERCLCKING SITES READ ALOT OF REVIEWS ON MB,VIDEOCARDS, ETC. I have built alot of computers what I have at the present isn't the fastest: 1.Asus P3C200MB. P3 800 running 900mhz 117mhzFSB GForce 3 Ti200 256mb mem. #2 ABIT BX6VER2.0MB 950Celeron running at 1,120mhz 158mhzfsb 384mb mem Gforce 2Ultra vid.card. I would recemond an ASUS OR ABIT MB anytime due to their stability, flexiablity, overclockability. You can get them either for an Intel or AMD cpu.Don't let anybody tell you what's the best to buy or what's the best or fastest. Ie I have a friend that works at Microsoft that has a comp that runs an AMD 1.3GHZ THUNDERBURD WITH a GFORCE 2 PRO videocard and 192mb ram and my 3d2000 and 3d2001 scores 800 to 500 points higher than his.But that does't mean my computers is faster than his.

abit has been a leader all along in performance, overlcocking, and stability. they were the first to develop the cpu softmenu that allows bios overclocking without the use of jumpers (thus the case doesn't hav to be opened after the chip is unloceked). They are in line pricewise and DO NOT get outperformed by anyone. Typically they are the first to have a new feature as well such as the onboard IDE RAID.
