I am in the process of buying a new laptop and am wondering what the best mobile processor currently on the market is. I realize different people will have different opinions, I just wanted an overall feel for how people are thinking.

This is a challenge posting by CNChallenger.

What will be the primary use of the laptop? The CPU is only one part of the puzzle. A lot of people seem to be buying laptops for gaming, then are severely disappointed when they discover their games play poorly or not at all. The fastest CPU can't make up for lack of graphics & good gaming laptops cost well over $1000.

Here's a list of the best mobile CPU's...how much are you willing to spend?

And if you go with a top of the line Core 2 Quad with all the bells & whistles, you can expect to pay over $3000.

Go to Microexpress: http://www.microexpress.net/prodcus...

You can upgrade the heck of these war horses (ain't pretty but they perform and are much less expensive than similarly equipped laptops. Put a T9600 with 6mb cache and three gigs of ram and still come it at around $1,500. Buy a Sony or other name and you'll dump over twice that.

Oh...and I fully concur with JAM...CPU isn't everything. The Microexpress units come with a 9600M card standard...certainly capable of playing games.
