Specs: Windows 7, E6600/4Gb DDR3 2000Mhz
hi guys, i have an intel C2D E6600 and MotherBoard Asrock G41M-S3.
my memory is patriot 2000 Mhz. (i know that mobo only support 800/1066/1333)

My question is: which is the best OC setup for dont get bottleneck with cpu/ram?

I wish dont OC the cpu and aproach the memory to the top (1333mhz), underclocking this one and keeping the cpu frequence.

✔ Best Answer
You can use ratio 1:1 or 1:2
Ratio 1:1 1066 FSB & DDR3 533
Ratio 1:2 1066 FSB & DDR3 1066
As u increase CPU frequency, memory clock also increase.
Try (333 x 9) or (400 x 9 use ratio 1:1) and make sure CPU Vcore doesn't exceed 1.5v.

but 333 x 9 = 3.0Ghz and 400x9 is 3.6Ghz on the cpu, i dont know if it is safe OC the cpu so much, my cooling is a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/pro... the temp is 45°-52° without OC.

can you please check the manual for my motherboard? i am using the jumper configuration 1-2, 4-5, 1-2 (for bus 1333 and ddr3 1333)

G41M-S3 manual: ftp://174.142.97.10/manual/G41M-S3.pdf

forgive me mate, i am newbie on OC

From board manual page 19
FSB1 short pin 2 & 3
FSB2 short pin 3 & 4
FSB3 short pin 4 & 5
This will run e6600 at 3ghz (333 x 9)

Page 31
Advanced > CPU configuration, overclock mode manual, increase CPU frequency to 400, lock PCIE frequency to 100, disable spread spectrum, disable intel speed step and set the ratio CMOS settings to 8. Before saving changes check memory speed (1600 FSB with 800 ddr or 1333 fsb with 667 ddr or 1333 ddr).

page 28
Adjust memory frequency if it's not correct

U can overclock manual thru BIOS(without jumper) or use jumper and BIOS.

with those settings:
dram frequency options;
a) auto, (425)<<--850
b) 400(800),
c) 480(960).

dou you have gtalk or whatsapp? we can chat there on real time, find the best configuration and after solve this one, post here the solution for everbody. if you are agree of course.

Can u run 3.2 ghz and memory frequency 425 mhz with gtx 260? Lock PCIE frequency to 100.

cannot change pcie freq when i use 400 on cpu bus.
for now; any manual setting will not work with video card, without vcard all good, with vcard only work on auto everthing. on auto, it reconigze the cpu on 1600 and the memory on 800. for setup cpu to 2.4, i have to use on windows an asrock tool. asrock oc tuner, if i modify it on bios forcing to nominal cpu freq 266x9, no video.

Running PCI express frequency at 102 mhz has no negative effect. Post the PSU specs(+3.3v, +5v, +12v), try (333 x 9) with jumpers the increase 20 mhz until u reach 400(with video card installed).

Use (400 x 8, ram at 800 ddr) with video card removed and run stability test using prime 95 and post the highest temperature.

Ok mate, i did! , i mean you did! lol

FSB1 short pin 2 & 3
FSB2 short pin 3 & 4
FSB3 short pin 4 & 5

then 333x9 with video card mounted and boot fine, no video issue. temp look good, 40°-50°C on iddle, 53° max running prime 95 for 20 minutes. here a screenshot with hwinfo64 details, asrock oc utility and windows 7 perfomance evaluation, before OC 5.9 on cpu and memory, now is 6.4 both.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-image...

ok this seem to be nice OC to 3.0 with 333x9, fsb to 1333 and memory on 800.

the other problem is: after and before OC problem with youtube or any video online using adobe flash, when maximize the video, it run slow and with a little noise on audio, like "matrix sound". with the video minimized no audio/video problem. this issue is present with and w/o OC. have you any idea about this one? i thought this has relation with the perfomance on my pc before OC.

mate, thx a lot for your extreme support, really you answer my question "best balance with E6600 and DDR3.

(333 x 9) memory frequency 333 aka ddr3 667 or 667 aka ddr3 1333.
If u want to reach 1600 FSB (400 x 8) increase CPU frequency by 20mhz until the system refuse to post. Keep an eye on memory frequency(ratio 1:1).

edit: try to install new adobe flash player http://filehippo.com

Ratio 1:1 means CPU external speed aka FSB runs at the same speed as memory.
FSB 800 with DDR 400, FSB 1066 with DDR 533, FSB 1333 with DDR 667, FSB 1600 with DDR 800.

Try to reinstall sound driver http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.a...

ok, i adopted 1:2 with original cpu freq 2.4, fsb to 1066 and memory working on 1066, now i understand all of this thx to you.

the problem is not sound card or driver, i am using a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro, i already tested 2 different drivers and with the internal realtek sound card too.

The sound problem is: Pci-E working @x1, then video card is working limited. i wrote to asrock and they told me: Motherboard have a pci-e 1.0 and my gtx 260 need a 2.0 slot. i found the problem with gpu-z. all my question on the begining was cuz i was thinking about bottleneck cpu/ram, but the problem is the pci-e slot.

The problem is the video card isn't getting enough power and not pci-e version.

If you need to stay with Micro ATX look at:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...
If you can use ATX board this one would be perfect for you:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...
Both are reasonable and can go to the limits of the socket 775's CPU's. both will OC well but the P45 board significantly better.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I have asrock g31m-s(PCIe v1.0) and 9600 gt(PCIe v2.0) and sometimes if i mess with power cable or remove the v-card it run at pcie x16 @ x1 or x4. If the v-card is running at x1 the first sign is the first screen(contain only the name of the v-card) takes long time to appear.

Here is the solution for this problem
-shutdown the system then remove the power cord & side panel
-remove all the optical drives, hard drives(except for os hard drive) & additional cards.
-reinstall pcie power plug and v-card from pcie x16 slot, make sure the pcie power plug comes direct from psu or if u connect them thru pata power plug make sure u do not share them with optical drives or hard drives.
-connect the power cord(make sure it is well connected). If u are using automatic voltage regulator make sure PC is the only device connected or if u don't have one take power direct from a wall socket.
-start the system and let us know the results.
