Hi all - I am just starting to look into overclocking my PC and as it is something I have never done before I could do with some3 advice. I have a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP with an Athlon XP 2200+. To be honest I didn't like the Easytune software when I installed it so could do with some advice on where to start....I know things like start low, work up, let it run to see how stable it is but not sure exactly what to change! The motherboard has the set of dip switches (multiplier??) and I can change the FSB speed in the bios so could people give me a clue on what to do and what order to change these things etc?? That would be great! Ta in advance!

Normally the Athlon XP should have a fixed multiplier. There are guides to go around that on the net but I don't own a XP so I can't help there.
The most common way is the raise the FSB so best you start there. Download one or two benchmark programs (3D Mark 2000 or 2001SE or 2003 are nice benchmarks - last only if you have at least a directx8 card) and run it in the original setting. Note the results.
Then raise the fsb a bit and run the benchmark again to see if the results go up.
As soon as the benchmark freezes something is wrong and you may have reached the maximal setting of one of your components. You can try to slightly raise the VCore to get the cpu a bit higher but if it's not the cpu this will bring only more heat!
