Hey everyone!
I just discovered the joys of moding and overclocking the family computer. (If I annoy them enought by constantly taking it apart they might buy me my own comp, thats the plan anyway!)
But anyway, I have a Celeron 566 and it's running on an Jetway 994AN-L Mobo.
It has a via chip and Award v6.0 BIOS.
It was runing on 8.5x 66mhz. 8.5 being the top multiplier on the mobo. I changed the FSB speed in BIOS to 84, giving me 707mhz. This made my comp crash occasionally till I changed the memory to -33ms of host clock (or something like this) in Bios. Now I KNOW my CPU can go faster and it's running @ 35oC tops @ the moment but I need to turn down the AGP and PCI multipliers to 1/2 or 1/3 so I don't fry my cards, the only problem is there isn't an option in my BIOS.
Does anyone know how else I can do this??
Also can turning up the FSB to above 84/41 destryoy my HD?
Thanks a lot,
Oli
Host clock is the same as FSB....so by setting your memory speed to Host Clock -33, you've underclocked your RAM to 51 mhz (84 -33 = 51mhz). Chances are you've taken quite a performance hit by doing this. What about your other memory settings in the BIOS? Settings vary from board to board, but there should be Timing options (i.e. Normal, Fast, Turbo). Turbo can sometimes cause probs with cheap memory. There should also be a setting for Cycle Length (CAS)...2 or 3. 2 is faster but can also cause problems with cheap memory. Do you have the manual for the board?

For starters, try your FSB at 100, mutiplier at 6.0. Memory at [Host Clock +33] for PC133, [Host clock] for PC100, or [Host Clock -33] for PC66. Set Timing to Fast, Cycle Length at 3. If there's no provision in the BIOS, the AGP & PCI bus speeds should be set automatically.
