Comment:

I've just purchased a brand new PC off a company without an OS.
The Spec's are following:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.083Ghz)
512DDR Ram (PC3200)
256DDR Geforce FX 5600 Ultra
80gb Seagate Barrucuda (Serial-ATA)
CDRW 52X
15" TFT STD (Black)
Now the problem is this:
The barton 2800+ processor won't register corectly on the motherboard supposedly.
How can i update my Bios without an OS?
I haven't received my PC yet but this is what has been said reptitively in forums.

If anyone has any ideals on this i'd appreciate it

I'd look for a computer which has an OS and make a boot disk on it. Then down load the latest version of BIOS on a floppy disk. Boot into DOS with the boot disk and after that, use the BIOS disk to flash the BIOS. You'll have to be able to get into the existing BIOS on the board to set the booting sequence to include floppy drive.

Its unlikely that your machine will not be able to boot at all using the 2800. It will probably just be underclocked until you update the bios.

With the A7N8X you can also use the ALT+F2 Method. It only requires a BIOS image file on a blank floppy disk. For more information see this link:
