Hi i purchased a processor and bor combo

ASROCK K7S8X + XP2600 + FAN Bundle! (Z82)F

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15919&item=3491495898&rd=1

here is the link 2 see for yourselfs

now instead of sending me a thourobread 2600 i recived a barton.

anyway as i understand this should run @ 1.9ghz mine runs at 1.67. the multiplier is 12.5 but im sure for this chip it should be @ 11.5

when changing the jumpers tot he recommended settings the cpu shows as a 2600 but the speed jumps to 2.09ghz. this isnt stable and the computer crashes.

my question is. what part of my hardware is causing my chip to under pperform and is there anything i can do to get this running at the correct speed.

is it possible for me to chand the multiplier to 11.5 on this board.

pls check the link so u know what board i have

tthx in advance all replies welcome

There are 3 different 2600+ CPUs...one Barton & two Tbreds:

Barton/333FSB = 11.5 x 166 (1917mhz)

Tbred/266FSB = 16.0 x 133 (2133mhz)

Tbred/333FSB = 12.5 x 166 (2083mhz)

If your multiplier is defaulting to 12.5x, it seems that you have a Tbred/333FSB, not a Barton. CPUZ will confirm what core your CPU has:

I can't tell you why it's crashing...if you provided more detailed specs on your system, it may help. As a guess, it could be overheating, or bad RAM, or a weak power supply...

If you download that program (CPUZ) it will confirm what CPU you have (Tbred or Barton), but it does appear to be a Tbred. It should be clocked at 12.5 x 166 @ 1.65v

To test your RAM for errors, download & run memtest86:

Commonly labelled wrong? No, not that I know of. Like I said, CPUZ will tell you which CPU you have, plus some other info that may come in handy.

You didn't happen to copy the numbers off the CPU, did you? Your's should be AXDA2600DKV3D
