Bad/Missing OSB Logo

Toshiba / M40

Specs: Windows XP
Toshiba Satellite M40.
This message comes up before the system boots... I tried to reflash the bios, and it tells me I have the correct version.
Any thoughts before I throw this thing in the garbage...

"I tried to reflash the bios, and it tells me I have the correct version"

And? Did you continue with the flash or wouldn't it allow you to? Or is the BIOS flash what triggered the Bad/Missing OSB message?

Did you try restarting several times to see if it will eventually boot into Windows?

Did you try pressing the Esc key or Tab key to see if you can bypass the message?

Sometimes I will try to boot the computer for 40 times, sometimes it takes even more than that. The F12 key does not work to choose the boot priority. The ESC and F1 keys do not work.
I am scared to shut off the laptop to try anything, as it will not boot up again. Just to let you know, that when I turn on the computer, the Toshiba Logo comes on, and in very Green "ordinary font" letter, it says "Bad/Missing OSB Logo". I thought it was a virus.

Toshiba wants money to talk to them regarding support. But I don't believe anything they say will help. I told them I would be happy to pay them if they told me how to solve the problem. They then told me that had no past history of the problem.

You didn't answer my questions about the BIOS flash, yet I get a -1? You should get a -1 for posting in the wrong forum. What do your questions have to do with CPUs or overclocking?
