Hey i'm not shure if my CPU is bad or not. i recieved it from a friend who didnt need it it worked fine or still does i dont knoe i was testing a motherboard to see if it worked with a soyo k7ada. i've had trouble with this mobo before and deicided to see if it was crap or not... since im making a motherboard and cpu upgrade using the athlon i recieved from my friend
so..... i test the mobo NO RAM, NO CPU, NO NUTHING
just the video card, the power, the monitor, the keyboard just to see if i could get into BIOS and NUTHING tried diff video slot NUTHING re-set the jumper and all NUTHING .............so i came to the conclusion for some GAY reason to drop the cpu in and see if it would take me to bios i duno why i wasnt thinking strait 4 o clock in the morning. IT TURNED ON FOR 3 SECONDS THEN TURNED OFF AND I COULD KINDA SMELL SUMTHING!! i want to knoe if sumoen can tell me if the CPU is good or bad still i didnt see any brown spots on the mobo socket and i didnt have a fan on the cpu because i was only keeping it on for 3 seconds so if sumoen can help me please before i waste money that would be great!!!!! :)

First of all, you cannot boot a motherboard without having the CPU, memory, and video adapter installed. Leave out any one of these and it will never boot.

Secondly, if the processor was not bad before you tried it on the mobo, it may be now. You should never turn on the computer without a heatsink and fan on the processor. It can go up in smoke in LESS than 3 seconds.
