Comment:

hi, i own a athlonxp 2500+ FSB 333MHZ system, recently i read that AMD systems work best when FSB speed and Memory speed are in sync, i have a 512mb 2100DDR(133x2=266mhz) memory, so I lowered FSB speed in bios to 133MHZ, the next time at boot up, the bios shows that i now have a AthlonXP 1900+ cpu, is this normal? does it mean that the cpu is not being fully used? what should I do at this situation, lower the FSB speed or overclock the memory speed?
if i need to overclock the memory speed can anyone tell me how?

it will show up as a different cpu as the bios is estimating what cpu it should be from the speed its clocked at, go and buy a stick of pc3200 and sell that 2100, thats the best advice i can give you,if you run your bus at 266 it is only gonna be as good as a 1900+, you can fiddle about with overclocking the ram but its not worth it.

i concur, get the pc3200 memory and clock both fsb amd memory with a 1:1 ratio, you will see a huge difference when you do
