OS: Win XP SP3
CPU/Ram: 2600 XP-M 2GB PC3200
Product: homebuild
Comment:

Currently running an Athlon XP-M 2600 in an Asrock K7-NF2-RAID MB. CPU is running @ 200MHz FSB with a 10X multiplier in place of the usual 133MHz FSB and 15x multiplier to synchronise with the memory. Running at around 45C to 50C under load. I can set higher multipliers with the MB jumpers.
What heatsink/fan would you recommend for best cooling if I overclock? Should I consider watercooling?
Would like to hit a stable 2.5 Ghz if possible.
Thanks
Shaun

Your load temp is fine - as it sits right now, you have nothing to worry about. To get it up to 2.5GHz will probably require a hefty voltage increase though & that's when things will start heating up. You won't know until you try. There's no need to run out & buy a HSF or watercooling just yet & considering the age of your system, it may not be worth it. Try experimenting with the settings a little bit 1st & see what you can accomplish with your current setup. You should have no problem getting it to run at 2.2GHz (11 x 200). You'll have to decide if it's worth dropping $25-100 in cooling just to gain another 200-300MHz.

It's fine to make our old systems "all they can be" but other than a good psu replacement when necessary; any proposed expenditures over 20 bucks need to go into a slush fund for building/buying a new machine.

Thanks Jam
Will try 2.2GHz and take it from there.
