Subject: athlon xp 3000 temperature
OS: win xp home
CPU/Ram: athlon xp 3000/512mb
Model/Manufacturer: asus
Comment:
Whats the recommended temperature of an athlon xp 3000 cpu.
Mine runs at maximum load 54C/129F with a 60mm fan & aluminum heatsink,
Is this normal or should I upgrade to a larger fan ?

Is that coming from the BIOS or software? If I were you, I'd run dual prime95 for 2 hour and then check the temperature in the BIOS to see if 54C is the max load. If yes, then there is nothing to worry about. In fact, you don't have to worry anything until the temperature go above 70C...

I run my 3000+ oc'd with a 92mm fan and copper and heatpipe heatsink and I've never gone over 45c with a full load going for hours on end.

Good for you cyberlantz. Now, when cap81 gets a copper heatsink "with" heatpipes, maybe he can comment on your statement. Now, back to the question in hand..........

"Whats the recommended temperature of an athlon xp 3000 cpu."

That would be anything less than the applicable Max Die Temperature for your specific AXP 3000+, under full load.

I'm giving him my specs so that he can take that into consideration while he thinks about upgrading. Talk about back to the question at hand...
