Comment: My hardware is as follows:
Windows XP
Elitegroup L7VMM3 Motherboard
256MB Ram
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ My Bios shows the processor as an XP 2600+ But when I get into windows it only shows as an XP 1400+ I have updated my Bios and this still has made it no better. My internal clock is 1200.04mhz
My system clock is 133.34mhz Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get the computer working to the optimum performance!? Dont think you can, know you can

If so, what you're calling an XP 2600+ should actually be called a Pro 2600A+ I used to have a link that listed the true clock speeds of those CPUs...my guess is you're clocked correctly. I just posted what I think will solve wallis_online's problem...that is, if he has one of those integrated CPU boards. Are you referring to the "amd vs p4" post? Reply: (edit)The FSB is NOT supposed to be 166mhz & he didn't get "jipped". If anything, he didn't fully understand what he was buying. A Pro 2600A+ is not an XP 2600+...1200mhz is the correct speed for what he has Asus A7N8X-X

Reply: (edit)Dude, I suggest you do some research on the L7VMM3. The CPU is integrated...that is, soldered to the board. You cannot upgrade the CPU or remove it without destroying the board/CPU combo...unless you're damn good at desoldering/resoldering...lol! Asus A7N8X-X

Reply: (edit)jam's correct...we talked about these about a year ago when they first hit the market. It's a very lo cost "combo" that takes "creative marketing" to the very limits of a persons imagination. These things will brouse the internet, do word processing and other basic chores but; not much more. These "combos" are what make $99 rigs possible in the stores (Fry's for one) but also confuse the hell out of those who try to make sense of the numbers. It's best to use 'em as a basic rig and go elsewhere for a machine to do video or gaming. Skip

I'm sure no one will ever read this, but I was searching for this thread & found this unanswered question. If you look at what you quoted from the other response, you'd have your answer. The 2600A+ = XP1400+ = 1.2Ghz = 1200mhz
