Well I recently slapped together a new system, and was startled and angered to find that my XP 2400+ underclocked itself to 1800+! I then found out I had a fan/HS rated for the 1800+, so I went out and got a Volcano 9 which is rated for 2600+. Same results... any ideas? Is there something I that got changed in the bios as a result of the other fan and now has to be switched back. I made sure the FSB was at 166mhz. My mobo is the A7n8x deluxe... it's killin' me cause I'm down a whole 600+! :(
plz help thx

I have an Asus P4T533-C with a P4 3.06GHz, the initial boot showed me a 2.4GHz, but if you highlight CPU speed, and press enter or whatever key on that board to change is, press it, and the correct speed should be listed, select and reboot.

You probably didn't set the BIOS settings to a FSB of 133, and it is instead at 100. Just set the BIOS. The mobo probably came with a default setting of 100FSB to be safe (in case you put in a Duron or any 100FSB processor).

I have the same setup and the same results. I changed the FSB to 133 and then it showed up at the appropriate 2400+ classification. My problem is that I selected the aggressive mode of the bios and got a complete lock. I can't even get a post at this point. Any suggestions? I have cyled power several times.

ahh thx man
fsb 133 worked like a charm
as for ur problem i wish i could help but i bearly knew enough to get myself by :(
however im noticing the stupid sound on the a7n8x to be rather problematic for half-life/cs and splinter cell.

I have the same thing. Just pur a 2400 MHz AMD processor into my A7V8X Asus motherboard. It ran fine with the 1800. I found the same thing with the freq - I had to set it to 133. But now when I try to play Generals or even surfing the net I get errors. As if a timing or somethings not set right. As for Mr Gruman - reset the bios using the jumper nest to the battery. just pull the battery then slip the jumper to the other spot for 3 seconds and put it back. Reinstall the battery and your all set. I'm going hunting for bois setups for this processor with the A7V8X...
