im having the same problem wiht my compaq presario 6000(6214AN) i have a amd athalon xp 2400+(tbred) but the fsb has seemed to drop back 33.3... mhz(down to 133, and i know how good amd are but it is still slow) and my cpu power has lost a quater, (it has a 15x multiplier, 100 fsb, = 1.5ghz, was 15x133.3..=1999.5..., if anyone can offer some help it would be much appreciated, hopefully the pc make should be enuf, however if you need anymore info just ask

You need to go into bios and set the bus speed back to 133mhz. It will be right after doing so. Don't forget to save changes before exiting bios.

PS-Hold down delete key on boot up to get into bios.

i have a stock standard compaq presario 6000, it doesnt have a soft bios, and i know i have a amd athalon xp 2400+ coz thats what it says on the proscessor. i already knew how to do that but i cant, no soft bios. thanks for your help tho.
Summary: You don't need to take it out. The athlon 1800+ runs at 1.53ghz, a multiplier of 11.5 times an fsb of 133. There is no such thing as an athlon 1800+ that runs at an fsb of 100 and a multiplier of 15....
