Is the new sempron better than athlonXP?I want to upgrade my pc and I don't know what to choose: athlonXP 2800-3000+ barton or sempron 2800-3100 I would be grateful for a link of a benchmark comparison between the two or personal experience

No the Sempron is not better than an Athlon XP. In fact it's the successor of the Duron and is supposed to compete with the Celeron. So, a Barton 2800+ is better than a Sempron 2800+ cause he have twice the cache. For the Sempron 3100+, it's on a socket 754 and not socket A. The Sempron score well against the Celeron but the Athlon XP is better and not much more expensive. Check this review at Tomshardware:
