I did those same tests with my 3.6ghz and got better scores in most of those same tests that they used on the site. Athlon64 & the 2.8c beat me in some of them though.

But if i had a 3.2C overclocked or a Prescott overclocked i think i would leave them in the dust.

Now i know i'm probably not going to buy an Athlon64. Can't even beat it's own xp 2800+ in some tests.

Good review!

Hi kevn

it was a good review, ahve good read between the lines it got canned in a number of areas, but what they amd aims for on the private side was spot on the money.

I bealive on the last page there are some words refering to its gaming ability, something about " byond competition " not sure need to have another read.

hey i checked that review out. Anyway isn't 0301 read as 03 as month and 01 as year. And wouldnt that make sense then because there's 2001 printed on the right side. It's either the people on the website are really dumb or really annoying trying to fool people into thinking its a very new sample. Or maybe thats not the way you read dates on cpus, but tell me otherwise, im no date reader expert of cpus myself. I dont know guys but i don't like previews of any chips. Theres always alot of werid things in them. Anyway, look on the bright side, if this chip is 2 years old then amd diehards still have some space to breath, or should i say, alot more then intel diehards . lol. Bye

What is so special about over rated Athlon CPU? Espeically Athlon 3200+ @ 2.2Ghz and Athlon64 2800+ @ 1.6Ghz when its not even as fast as a Pentium 4 running at 2.8Ghz with HT. When Prescott come out, I will definately get one of those. What's so big deal about the Athlon64? They run at 2Ghz max so far, but do you think they can out run a Pentium 4 clocked at twice of it's clock speed? Pentium 4 4Ghz HT vs Athlon64 2Ghz. AMD is now lagging behind Intel, they know they can't catch up with Intel's Mhz, so they give this crazy rating on Athlon64 1.6Ghz 2800+ when its not even as fast as an Athlon 2800+... Anyways, clawhammer for me, no thx.

The new Prescott cpu starting at 3.4ghz will easily oveclock to 4ghz, max 4.4ghz-4.6ghz. Can't wait..

What a lot of people missed here was that these test only tested the Athlon64's 32bit performance, and in some cases it beat the 2.8C, while only running at 1.6GHz, thats a 1.2GHz difference. Taking that into account, I am sure that had they tested the 2GHz version, it would have blown the 2.8C out of the water. To further this, the only reason the 2800+ Barton beat the Athlon64 2800+, was because it had more raw power, 2.25GHz vs. 1.6GHz. If software developers do start heading in the direction of 64bit, I believe AMD has a winner.

Yeah but it's not like Intel won't come out with something similar when all these 64bit aps come out and blow AMD back to were their supposed to be..second ;)
