I got a problem with my new computer. It's an Athlon XP 2.2 XP / 512 meg ram 333 with a SB live and a 80 gig IBM deskstar, a 16 X yamaha Writer and a Radeon 7200 SDR Video Card. When I start an MP3 in Winamp or a MPEG in Windows Media player, after a while (or not, definitely it's unstable) the application craches and I must start it back again. I don't know exactly what's causing the problem. Though, I have a ... unusual problem.... I tried it at a friend yesterday (just the computer), and it goes right ahead without crashing. But when I come back home, it starts again. Right now, I have connected a joystick (sidewinder), a usb keyboard, a usb mouse, 4.1 Speaker and a 17" IBM monitor. Thanks!

checked your processor cooling?? AMD Athlon xp 2600+ or higher requires a lot of cooling for the processor. If the processor overheats, it will keep crash unexpectly.

Thanks for the answer but I doubt it is that
I use the fan provided by AMD and as I said, it is a 2200+ and thus I do not need extra cooling. I checked via the asus application the Temperature of the processor and found it around 57-59°C. So it sounds as normal temperature...

That is hot by the way. But it sounds to me like you need to update your bios via the asus program or the asus website. I have the same m/b with a 2500 Barton and I had to update the bios to get everything running smooth. Once I updated it it hasn't had one problem and Im loving it!

Hummm! What could I do if it's hot? I bought the computer from the store and they told me that it would be ok...
I updated yesterday the bios. i found an incompatibility from the microsoft sidewinder Gamepay. So I removed it. What is a good °C for an AMD like this. (2200 XP)
