I was wondering if anyone knew about the 6400 BE having an unlocked multiplier. Some say yes some say no, does anyone really know? And if it does have that i dont think my Mobo goes past 12x anyways so that kind of sucks. Does it mean the multiplier? or can u just increase the Mhz of it without jacking up the HT Bus

WinXP Pro 64 Bit
AMD X2 5200 Windsor
Gigabyte M57SLI-S4
Corsair XMS2 3GB DDR 800

Yes, the multiplier is unlocked in both directions. However (& this has been mentioned before), the 6400+ is already clocked near it's limit. There is very little overclocking headroom left. The max you're gonna get out of it is between 3.3-3.5GHz no matter what you do or how you do it.

How to overclock the X2 has already been explained to you. You need to lock the PCI-e at 100MHz, lower the HT from 1000MHz (5x) to 800MHz (4x), lower the RAM speed from DDR2-800 to DDR2-677, then increase the CPU freq a little at a time. The HT bus has SOOO much bandwidth already, lowering it a bit has no significant impact on performance.
