I was just wondering how fast does your CPU fan run in your Athlon 64 system? Mine runs at an average of 4800rpm and it's so noisy. Any thoughts!?

"it's so noisy"
whats it sound like? Mine sounds "normal",no screeching or high pitched sounds.
Are you sure you're not hearing any other fans in the case?
Mine hit 5700 today but only while running system intensive programs (UT04).The room temp was 82F.At that rate its fairly loud but not loud enough to lose thought over and probably a lot quieter than the stock P4 fans.
It really depends on the weather/room temp.

I also hv a 92mm case fan at the back that comes along w/ the case (Aopen QC-50F 350W). But I dont think that will create much noise, at least not to the extent which I feel disturbing rite?

Both my CPU and system temp are at 37C when idle or opening one two IE browsers.

Actually the case is QF-50C.

I dun think if you would call tat noisy but it's relatively loud comparing to my P4 2.4C which has its CPU fan running at around 2400rpm when idle.

Its not your 92 mm fan causing all the ruckus.
Most likely your cpu fan.Maybe its faulty.

faulty? noise = faulty HSF? i doubt it.
anywayz i enabled Cool n Quiet last night to make the fan get down to 1500rpm when idle. That kinda solved the problem.

Actually it's not the Cool n Quiet that lowers the fan speed. It is the Buzzfree Control in MSI Corecell. But doesn't Cool n Quiet suppose to reduce the fan speed when the computer is in idle?

To be honest, Cool & Quiet makes a difference on my HSF speed. Whether it controls it directly or not. When I run it, fan spins much slower than when it's disabled.
