hi i purchased a AMD Athlon 2600+ processor (Barton) and i know its supposed to be clocked at a speed of 1.9ghz after researching it on AMD's website. but when i start up my computer its clocked at only 1.1ghz. my fsb speed on the processor is 333mhz and i have it set in BIOS at 133mhz... maybe that has something to do with it HELP!!!

I think 133mhz = 266 fsb. To get fsb of 333mhz you need to change the setting in the bios ( or jumper on the motherboard depending on which board you've got) to 166. Better still if the bios will let you select "Auto" in the Advance section under CPU host frequency

Are you sure it's set at 166mhz. some motherboards have jumpers or dipswitches on the board which dictate the FSB. Some of these boards come set at 100 as default. Check the manual for your board.

My guess is your bboard is set at 100mhz (100 x 11 multiplier = 1.1 ghz)

None of the three variations of the Athlon XP 2600+ defaults @ 1.1Ghz, since you have the barton core your default clock speed should be 1916MHz (166x11.5)

If you have your clock is at 100mhz then you will be @ 1150Mhz or 1.1Ghz, your clock HAS to be @ 166 for you to be @ default speed. Have you consulted your motherboard's manual?

Just like Blake, a few posts below your's, you have the FSB set at 100mhz instead of 166mhz.

You can argue all you want about having it setup correctly...it's obviously wrong or your CPU would be running at 1917mhz.

Make sure the CLK_SW (next to the chipset) is set to ON. Make sure the 4-pin ATX_12V plug is connected to the board.

In the BIOS, set System Performance to MANUAL....set FSB Frequency to 166MHz. Memory Frequency should be the same as the FSB, if you have PC2700, you can use either BY SPD, AUTO, or 100%...if you have PC3200, set it to 100% & it will run at 166MHz. Do NOT set it at 120% as recommended in the manual...for best performance, CPU & RAM should run at the same speed.

Asus A7N8X-X
2500+ Sempron @ 2100mhz
10.5 x 200mhz @ 1.80v
512mb PC3200

Just reread your post...I think you should go reread your manual one more time. The switch has to be set to the ON position for 133/166/200MHz!
