I just bought a watercooling system for my computer. Since I installed it, my computer is running very sluggishly and is constantly re-booting. The CPU is running about 60 C (down about 2 degrees from my 7000RPM fan). I'm using Soyo's KT333 Ultra MB. I've got a full-tower case that is packed with a zip drive, two cd drives, 6 hard drives, and a whole bunch of cables. I've got the cables as packed away as I can to improve airflow in the case. I've got about 7 fans in the case to help with cooling. The case temp is running about 32C. Can anyone help me figure this out? The longest I've been able to stay in windows without having it restart on me is about 10 minutes. This last time it restarted, it wouldn't even get far enough to check the video card and ram.

If you have the liquid running in a closed circuit with no reservoir the temps will be higher. cause the warm water doesn't get enough time to cool off...you can get another radiator and then you'll have 2 should work better...or you can connect the tubes to the fill and bleed valves and have them taking water from the reservoir which will be cooler.

I got another type of advice. A friend of mine messed with water cooling, didn;t go to well for him but ur 1700 is running awful hot so is ur case. Ur case is hotter then my mobo and i got a 2600xp+ on it with a closed case. Got 2 cd drives, zip but only 1 hd. Id say ur problem is 6 hard drives. Do u really need 6 hard drives and are they all 120g or 250g or are they like 20s and 40s. If i was u id buy 1 or 2 brand new hard drives 120g or 250g unless i dont know what u doing and u need alot more space then that. Really those 6 hard drives are probably creating way to much heat and with all those hard drive cables. Ur killing ur computer. As i c it 2 hard drives are fine for those who even like to speed up their transfer rate by making 2 hard drives act as 1 but i realy dont c why u got 6.
And if u cant get rid of them 6, do urself a favour and buy ur self one of those real big cases for $200 canadian. Those probably will do fine.

Heres my advice...i had a xp 2000+ 1.67ghz proccessor and my idle temps were 46 celcius and under a full load it goes up to 70 celcius. My case temp was 33 celcius. I had 4 fans in there too. Heres what i did. I removed the case, and then remove all the fans(except 1 intake fan and the heatsinks fan). Then i place a huge blower fan right beside the computer to blow into the case(usually 15 bucks from sears). Now my comp never goes above 50 celcius even under the heaviest conditions. My case temp never goes above 30 celcius either.

WHIZ,

where are you getting your temps from?
water cooling should be getting you in the 30's for cpu temp, about the same from a good copper heatsink and fast high output fan

I've got a 1 liter resevoir. I could get rid of two of the hard drives. Two are 80s, 2 are 120s and the other 2 are 2s. I use the 2s for stuff where I may run into viruses and I don't want them getting on my other drives. My goal was to get rid of the noise of my 7000RPM fan and I don't have room on my desk for a big fan. After reading through some of the other posts, I think what I'll try is doing a case mod and putting an exit vent over the cpu cooler with an 80mm fan pulling air away from it. Any ideas on that? Thanks!

Just to let you all know the outcome.... I upgraded to a 2400+ and its running fine! The temps seem to be pretty good so far (of course, I haven't had time to do much yet and i'm still running with my case open and 3 7000RPM fans blowing on my cooler! :-) ). Thanks for all your help!
