My computer configuration
------
A7a266-E MB
1700+ XP CPU
128 RAM
OS is Windows 2000.

Oftenly computer rebooted automatically and BIOS showing this message
-------
During the last boot-up, your system hung for on improper CPU Internal Frequency setting. Your system is now working in safe mode. To optimize the system performance and reliability, make sure the CPU speed conforms to the specifications of your CPU
--------------

My Bios update seems Updated one. Ver 1011. and following is the setting.
CPU Speed 1.466MHz
CPU Frequency multiple 11.0x
CPU/PCI Frequency Mhz 133/33
CPU Memory Frequency ratio 1:1.

My m/c is new built. And temperature or CPU is reaching 65~72'C.

if i run at 100 FSB is ok.
But Linux OS is runing at 133FSB without any problem with same computer ?

But if run at 100 FSB, I can not get full speed of 1700+ (1.47).

I got some replies from here, as it may need more power [PSU]. As i am newbie to hardware...what are the parameters need to increased to give more power.

And If we increase power Will the CPU heat increase more ?.

I have not overclocked the CPU. have not changed any bios setting
Pl help me.

Thx

it sounds like your PSU is to low of power for the rebooting part and you want to go with a good 350 watt PSU. i went with the 350w enermax PSU and its running GREAT! (i had the same problem) i also switched to DDR memory, this also helped. As to your other question, will the CPU heat increase? the answer is NO it will give it more power so it does not strain to keep up with your frequency that you put it at. That is what i have for you. Hope this dribble above helps. lol (not copyrighted!)

offhand and not being really familiar with your MOBO I'd say you were missing a jumper setting on the board itself for 133 FSB and only changed the BIOS setting to 133
Take a look into your MOBO manual and see if it mentions having to change a jumper to achieve 133FSB before changing the BIOS.This might also account for the higher than most CPU temperature

Hi peter,

My MOBO is jumper free one. it seems we can change from bios itself.
About PSU, Do I need to change the whole SMPS ?

thanx

I run a Epox 8KHA+,supposedly jumper free as well BUT it still has 2 ..clear CMOS and FSB 100/133.
Putting in a new PSU is fairly simple I changed mine 2 months ago.I simply disconnected the old and plugged in the new.powered up and all went well.Take a look at the AMD website they have a list of recommended PSU,pick one that has more power than you need.Pay attention to the combined output of the +3.3 and +5.0 lines they should be rated at least 190w and then add all the other devices you have installed which need power.Dont pick one on price alone I'm sure you did not buy your system on price alone.

Its not the total wattage thats important its the amount of amps available on the +3.3 and +5.0 lines. This gives you the necesary power on those lines. Some 400w PSU dont even reach that level and some 350w PSU exceed that.
