Hello:

I’m new to overclocking and maybe I shouldn’t be but the thrill seeker in me dives me forward.

I recently built a system using a Gigabyte GA-7ZXE with and Athlon 266 FSB. The system came jumpered with the external bus at 133MHz and a multiplier of 10.5. It comes with “Easy Tune III” software that allows you to increase the external bus speed until the system locks up. Then, you set the external bus speed at a value lower than the “lock up” speed and see how unstable the system is.

I found that the original configuration was most stable.

I am using 512MB of PC133 SDRAM. Could I enhance the performance by trying to set my CPU FSB at 266MHz and decreasing my multiplier to somewhere closer to 5.25 (if that is possible)?

In advance, thanks!

Derf

Try and sell as soon as possible. Recoup your money with a mobo that suppodts PC2100. If you have at least a GF2 you should achieve at least 100FPS in Quake3 @ 1024x768/32 Bit. what more do you want? the human eye sees little more than 35fps.

I have the same system( Athlon 1.4 + Gigabyte GA-7ZXE f7 + 266 FSB) and happy with it except trouble is in memory - It's OK with single sided memory module but when i tried to install some PC100-133, 32,64,128 mzh double sided memory module. It doen't recognized the new installers, will someones help me to make it work? and what does 266 FSB means? how can I get to that number.
