Hi,

I am hoping that someone can help :).

I have a:

GIGABYTE GA-7N400-L1 nForce2 mthrbrd
AMD Athalon XP 2600 processor
CORSAIR 256MB PC-3200 (400MHz DDRAM)

The system works fine, but it boots up showing the CPU running at 1.25 GHz? "My Computer" also reports this same speed.

Any ideas on what may be causing the chip to run at the slower speed?

Yep...you probably went with the default BIOS settings & never changed the settings to match your CPU speed. Your FSB should be either 133 (266DDR) or 166 (333DDR) depending on whether you have the Thoroughbred or Barton core. Since it appears your multiplier is set at 12.5, you probably have the Barton which is supposed to run at 12.5 x 166. Change your FSB from 100 to 166 & you'll be in business!

2600+ does not come in a barton core...it's either the 133 or 166 chip

just to set things straight
