need to know if this info is correct?.Jumper settings:Ext(BUS) Freq:FSO 2-3,FS1 1-2,FS2 1-2.CPU to BUS Freq ratio(Multip)2*:BF0 2-3,BF1 1-2.CPU Voltage settings2.2V VID1 1-2.BIOS must be flashed,112?Should i use Pflash.exe.Have info but need correct steps to accomplish this upgrade.THNX for help out there!

There are several versions of the TX97...here's the 2.2v settings:
http://www.bigedtech.com/bigedtech.com/GenInfo/Motherboards/asus_volt.htm
Here's a site dealing with the TX97 & K6-2/500:
http://www.lairdslair.com/TX97E.shtml

I have the TX97-X board and thanks for the help jam man!I hope this venture into overclocking works.CPU will probably run very hot and need special cooling setup?have you done overclocking before?
sys.ini required for windows missing & no luck finding backup in dirsystem.*.dont have win3.1 installation disks!DOS working fine.need to restore sys.ini file to run windows?

Hey, I just looked at the specs & manual for that board...don't waste a K6-2 on it. It's based on the Intel 430TX chipset & only caches 64mb of RAM...it may accept up to 256mb, but if you install more than 64mb, it'll kill your performance. Also, I don't see a setting for 2.2v for the CPU voltage. Plus, 75mhz FSB is as high as it'll go & it states in the manual that 75mhz is not guaranteed to be stable. Even so, if you used the "2.0x as 6.0x trick" with the 75mhz FSB, the absolute fastest CPU setting would be 450mhz (6 x 75).
If you don't have the manual, download it from here & look it over:

yeah, buti found 2 guys so far have done this and claim that their systems are stable but that their processors ran hot.they ran Rain?to help cool things down.they had the TX97-E&TX97-XE boards with the 430TX chipset and set the bus frequency to 83MHz which would give 498MHz.Not sure if i can go that high with this board but thanks for the info.I just want to try this upgrade to get some performance increase.and 450MHz is better than now if thats what i can get!you still think im wasting my time with this?

HEY BROTHER,NO RESPONSE FROM U?i HAVE THE STRAIGHT TX-97 BOARD,I NOW REALIZED.NOT THE X VERSION.WITH FLASHING THE BIOS AND NEW HEAT SYNC/FAN,and rain?whatever that is? I SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN THE AMD K6-2 500MHz cpu.83MHz Bus speed is not documented but the settings exist,im led to believe from these other guys.see www.libero.it/fmulas/tx97.html.any help is greatly appreciated man?phantazm

The 83MHz Bus settings exist,FSO:2-3,FS1:1-2,FS2:1-2.Also the CPU voltage settings for 2.2V is vID1:1-2!.Need help from someone who has done overclocking and knows what they are talking about.I need steps to complete this upgrade.Straight TX97 board, and the AMD K6-2 500MHz processor.what is Rain? and what type of cooling upgrades(ie heat sync&fan)do i need since AMD's run hot!need expert help?thank you!
