Comment:

I have been reading a lot of discrepancies between the CPU temperature readings of Asus Probe and the Bios.
I have about a 10 degree difference with Asus Probe - 45C and Bios - 55C. Which is to be believed?

Have you gotten the latest vesion of Asus Probe? I had discrepancies with some earlier versions, but since updating, things have been good. I think they released version 2.20.08 about a month ago...

I updated Asus probe and now it reads CPU temp as 33 and mobo as 42. My mobo used to be around 35. It seems that the two switched. And now there is a discrepancy of 20 degrees CPU temp between Asus probe and Bios.

"20 Degrees of Separation"
Here, same as 'patchbag'...
I'm kinda new to this Hardware Monitoring thing (as I prep for jumping off into the whirlwind of O.C. with new system I'm building:
Gigabyte 8KNXP mBrd
GEIL GoldenDragon 2GB as 2x 512x2 kits PC3500...
...dual channel DDR
Tyan Tachyon g9700pro
Sony DVD W/rW DRU510A...etc...).

Am now using Ausus P3BX, I "found" HdwrMon in Bios, starterd wondering whether 66o C at roughly Idle was hi, low or indifferent. Spent hours scouring online, --Intel, BB's, more...just wanting a definitive on what's the Redline Temp / Damagepoint Temp running a P3-800E on this mobo. What's a respectable Low-point, Mid-range, and Yikes-point...still don't know, don't know if anybody else knows either.
My discrep btw AsusProbe and Bios is +/- 20o C higher, in favor of Bios.
I've pulled P3 & HSF out 3x, reinstalled with better grease and no foil pad (HS) and shaved Bios read down to 49-50o C Idle
( which is AususProbes's 29-35o C counterpart). Most unsettling, what's a body to dooo...?...!
