Comment:

On boot gets past initialising the video card (Inno3d Tornado GeForce3 128Mb DDR) then sometimes get a flashing cursor, at other times boots, recognises CPU, Memory and drives then stops at flashing cursor. On one occasion got a POST message indicating "system failure due to overclocking". Have tried in JEN jumper-free and manual mode (manually setting to 133MHz FSB results in BIOS recognising 1600MHz CPU)
Note: initially built with an ASUS A7v266-e, which powered itself off before i could partition in winXP setup...then didn't come back..returned that and got the A7V333.....possibility of CPU damage???? wont run even on a 100MHz FSB....HELP!!!!!!

So, you used this CPU with one MOBO and now you’re trying it with another?

1600MHz is the correct speed for an XP 1900+.

I run 1700+ @ 1666Mhz (FSB166x10) without any problem, even tried 1800Mhz and still runs perfect !!! Reduced to 1666 because of proc.heat going above 48 degrees Celsius with running several apps at the same time.

The a7v333 is a problem. I have yet to get mine right 1800+amd ata133 60gig IBM . Kept getting blue screen during setup the via drivers that ship with board dont support xp. The place I bought it from has offered to replace it with an abit I wanted another gigabyte but it was unavailable. I get alot of errors mainly system32 config missing or corrupted I gave up on the board . You need via 4.00 4in1 drivers for xp I thought this would fix my problem WRONG
Good Luck

Yep, it's a big problem... it seems that this motherboard doesn't like the XP 1900. Mine, doesn't start sometimes... I've already try to change to the jumper mode, but it's impossible... it just doesn't start. I don't know what to do...

had major probs getting this mobo to work. Found that 300W PSU not enough, u/g to 460W. Better but still probs booting CPU clocking errors (j free mode!). This was caused by bios 1006 - u/g to 1007 and now runs fine.

Problems w/ A7V333 eh? None for me, rock solid performance w/ the video card & FSB mildly overclocked. Been running it w/ an XP2100 & win Xp home for over a month now. Haven't locked up or seen a single BSOD....

took me a while- but- the CPU runs hot- 60c- but is stable- board is very sensitive- HSF (big problems w/ the tornado 7+) and also any fans off the board-
system is rock solid now-

ASUS A7V333-Athlon 2000+ (stock HSF), Antec 430 PSU- 512 DDR 2700- running jumper mode- removed JP1 and 2 (however, i don't think it really matters amymore- the HSF caused all my headaches) Good Luck
