I just purchased this board and am going to put a 2500+ into it. I was wondering for the people who have this board, how far have you been able to overclock this thing to? I just want to get a rough idea. Thank you.

Here's my setup:

XP2400+ @ 2242GHz (11.5 x 195) w/1.75vcore
Asus A7N8X Deluxe PCB2.0
2 x 256MB Corsair XMS PC3200LL Sticks
Asus Ti4200 128MB AGP8x @ 300/600
WD Raptor SATA Drive
CDRW etc. etc. etc.

3D Mark 2001 SE 14300+
3D Mark 2003 1800+

Damn Futuremark server is down so I can't get my exact figures. BTW, your gonna have lots of "fun" with the A7N8X.

How do you mean lots of "fun"? Are there many problems with the board or are you referring to it's overclocking ability?

It overclocks fine, you may find that it will crap itself when you make major changes to the BIOS though, I know I did. However, I see fewer and fewer people having trouble with this board, so I don't think you will. Just make sure you fit the hsf properly, that can be a real headache, seen lots of people with that problem.

BTW I could never manage to get to a 200FSB without experiencing data corruption, if you plan on going with a 200FSB, post back and let me know how you go.

I got a 2500+ during the beginning of Summer to mate with my A7N8X Deluxe with 512mb of Samsung DDR400. I set my voltages to normal but up to a reading of 1.85V on (watch out the settings in BIOS aren't exact to what actually outputs).

I was able to get a stable boot up to about the mid 190's, but it higher up it would not run 3dmark and wasn't stable. I settled down to a FSB of 192 MHZ and then I moved the multiplier up and I think my OC was in the range of 2250 mhz pretty sure. I got tired of messing with stuff so I just left it there. (but it was completely stable). As summer went on, the ambient temps in my house shot up, so I had to go back to 2800+ levels.

As long as you're reasonably lucky with the chip you get and have good cooling, I'm sure you could get a OC probably better than mine with some voltage increases over what I did. (A friend had his up to about 2500).

Good Luck

Do the AMD Barton processors o/c on this board just like the Thunderbird B processors -- i.e., without having to do any physical tricks to the processor -- by just using BIOS parameter changes? Am considering buying a couple of these boards with XP 2500+ Barton processors. Am I likely to experience any problems with that combo?

In Response No 8 above, make that AMD Barton vs Thoroughbred B processors. Pardon mental lapse!

I didn't have to do any physical tricks to the processor.
