Just got an asus a7n8x deluxe yesterday, and I am having a problem where 3d programs like 3dmark 2001 and Unreal 2 or Battlefield 1942 will crash. They dont generally give errors. They just instantly crash to the desktop.
My system specs:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe - Bios version 1002
Athlon XP 2100+
Volcano 9 HSF set at max speed
Kingston KVR400x64C25/512 (DDR400, PC3200)
Gainward Geforce 4 Ti 4600
Hard drive and cdrom specifics probably arent important, so I have
-2 hard drives
-2 cd drives
Sparkle 300W PSUI have a stick of the same ram in 256mb, but for troubleshooting purposes I took it out, as well as all of the PCI cards that I have.
With both sticks of ram, I tried Making the speed of the ram sync, or 100%(so like 133mhz I guess)...and I was able to make it all the way through 3dmark. I was happy, so I loaded up BF1942, which played for about 10 minutes and then crashed in the same way as mentioned.
I Have all the latest drivers from asus' website (1.06 nforce2 drivers), and the latest detonators(42.86).
The only possible solution I have come up with is getting a new power supply. However, since I dont know that that is the problem for sure, I dont want to go wasting money on anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Josh Lyon

I have the same board and memory. If you purchased memory that was built prior to the end of January, and it does not say Winbond on the chipset, Kingston has a fix for you. The old memory modules (PC3200) specifically, had problems galore, and they replaced the chipset with Winbond type chipsets. Call them and they will give you an RMA to return your modules. You can even have them send you new modules, then you return the old ones before they bill your VISA. Fixed my problems. Good luck

I have the EXACT same problems. I have a Asus a7n8x deluxe with Kingston 333 chips that ALWAYS crashes during JKII and WarCraft III. It's driving me nuts. I just ordered some Crucial memory to replace my kingston memory which kingston said they will take back and refund my memory. They indicated the are dropping support for the A7N8X motherboard.
What kind of memory from work did you get?

I have the same problem but am running a T-bird 1.4ghz and 2 Crucial 256 (PC2700 dual Channel). 10 min into starcraft the game crashes to the desktop.
--I also noticed that the temp. is very high and only during starcraft.I can play ghost recon and mech. warrior 4 with out this problem.
and ideas?

I also have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe, but my games dont crash. My MULTIPLE problems are more serious. Mainly, My computer, if left alone for more than 5 minutes, will shut down. Also, sometimes when im using it it will restart the computer, which can be bad in the middle of games and apps, especially apps, because i dont save my work often (when i start something i finish it, thus i only save it when im done). Also, i cant touch ANY of the bios settings (and the bios couldnt possibly be more confusing). When i try to speed up my proc, the computer locks up at the A7N8X Boot-up screen, and i have to restart the computer literally hundreds of times before it will let me re-enter bios and set it to normal. Other than my mobo, i have:
Athon XP 2700+ (according to my mobo it runs at 100 degrees F)
512 MB Heat-spreader PC3200 RAM
80 GB HD
48x CD Burner
Gf3 TI 300
Volcano 9 running at 5200 RPM
450 W. power supply
Thermaltake Xaser II Case, 5 case fansthis pisses me off. lots. ive spent over 10 hours on hold with tech support, and ive NEVER spoken to any tech support personnel.

I have the A7N8x Deluxe too and was having the same probs with random reboots and crashes to the desktop in 3D games. After 3 os reloads and and a few hours of bios tweaking and testing with 3dmark03, I started yanking hardware and finally got to the ram; 2 sticks of Kingston KVR333 512 DDR 2700 2.5. Works with one stick but the minute i have two in I get problems. I tried two sticks 1 mushkin and 1 corsair and had no probs. Also tried 1 stick of kingston and one of corsair and had no probs. I just got this ram dir from Kingston 2 weeks ago and the chips say Infineon not Winbon. Looks like I will be calling Kingston, thanks for the posts
