I was trying to reply to another user's question but couldn't, so I posted a new message here...
The MB reporting 384M instead of 512M is probably not a problem, it's just using some of the memory for the onboard video, that can be disabled.
So, the CPU is working fine, just at the wrong (slow) speed?
Is your A7N266 the "AMD Assured" version? (That one doesn't allow overclocking I think?) If it's not, perhaps you could "unlock" your CPU and us a higher multipler in your motherboard's BIOS to get a higher clock speed.
I've got a system with an A7N266 board myself, but it's just got a 1600+ CPU. I was thinking of upgrading to a 2500+ even though it's not officially supported if you check the ASUS website.
Supposedly the "Mobile" version of the 2500+ comes already unlocked for $95 from Newegg.com, maybe I'll try one of those. I'd really like to give this system a boost. The 1600+ is plenty fast for web browsing, office work, 2d games, etc. But, an overclocked 2500+ running at about 2.2Ghz would make it a lot faster at DVD ripping etc.
Any of you guys know about the A7N266 voltage mod?
