using win2k, and 768 mb pc2100 ddr.
bios revision 1012
the asus a7a266
athlon xp tbred 2600+their documentation suggests that this cpu is supported in the bios revision.
i would like to set the cpu clock to 166
and the memory clock to 133, however i am
only allowed a 1:1 ratio, which is 166/142. no combinations from the bios options allow the cpu to post. i have sent an email to asus. if anyone has any useful advice, please email me and help me out.thank you.

Which 2600+ do you have? One runs at 2133mhz (16 x 133mhz/266DDR), & the other runs at 2083mhz (12.5 x 166mhz/333DDR)...if you're trying to raise the FSB to 166 on the 133 version, you've got to lower the multiplier to 13.

I'm having the same problem. I have an A7A266 (PCB 1.10 and Bios 1012) with a XP 2600+ 266 (2133 mhz).
I looked into Asus site and it said i could install this processor on the board. ok i did it... but the processor is running at 2000+ (1667 mhz) and i can't change the multiplier up to 12.5x.
I already updated my mobo to 1012 and had no modify of the multiplier...
what i have to do?? please i have to put this processor running!
thanks

I had a similar problem, with my a7a266 not recognizing my 2600 t-bred. The problem, I think, lies in the fact that only the mobo revision 1.10 will support the t-bred. On your mobo, between the 1st and 2nd PCI slots, it should have the word a7a266 written on the board, and next to it, rev. 1.x, where x is the PCB, or revision number. Mine is 1.04, and so, even with the newest bios, I dont think will support the 2600 t-bred.
However, I'm not 100% sure of this, but I'm close to it.

I am running ASUS A7A266 Rev. 1.10 with xp 1700+. Using Beta bios 1013 (from asus web site), I am able to run this processor at 1650 Megahertz ( nearly equivalent to xp2000+). This bios gives you control over fsb, voltage, and clock multiplier. Mine won't run if I set multiplier over 12, but I can crank it up a little with fsb adjustment. You need to make sure board is set to jumperless mode.
