Whoever can sell a <$100 CPU that can o/c 50% on stock cooler and match up with the top end CPU they currently offer, I will be buying from that company... But I'll be sticking with Intel because their chips overclock way better than AMD.

I have always been an AMD fan myself ever since the first K6 series. I guess what turned me away from Intel was their cpu prices back in the day and that's when I first switched from Intel to AMD processors and really never looked back since then.

I am an AMD fan and always will be because i have never had any intel before. not even in the computers my parents bought.

i know a lot about AMD's processors (ok the basics) and that they are more efficient in gaming, since im a gamer i will always stick to AMD. and now that AMD is buying my favorite GPU making company ATi. My world cant be broken anymore:D

Tho a 7900GT is pretty good for the money too hre in holland 270 euro :D

I started out with Intel back in 94 in the socket 7 days, but I think they abandoned that format too soon...THAT is what "forced" me to go with AMD. I was basically just starting out & had a 166 Classic (non-MMX)...I upgraded to a 233MMX & that's when I learned about overclocking. My Giga-Byte board was limited to 66MHz FSB only & used 72-pin SIMMS, but 168-pin SDR-SDRAM had just been introduced, so I upgraded to an FIC 503+ board, PC100, & a VooDoo3 AGP. I was running my 233MMX at 250MHz (2.5 x 100) & wanted to go faster, but Intel switched to the Slot-1. I wasn't gonna rebuild all over again, so I tried a K6-2...I've been running AMD ever since.

I have to say that I prefer AMD because they are always good value and the motherboards are cheaper in most cases.

My first 2 computers were Intel, first a 386SX which I cant say I really cared about because I was 8 or 9 years old and all I really did was use paint. Then that computer died and my parents baught me a computer for christmas in 2000 a 566MHz Celeron.. I cant say that was really that amazing. Then I got to my 600MHz K7 and started to be able to use my computer for other things.. and I became much more interested in computers and upgraded it. Then my uncle from holland came down and gave me my nice Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe and I baught a Sempron 2600+, I have to say this setup hasnt let me down and I am pretty sure my next comp is gonna be a nice AMD machine.. Unless intel manages to pull something impressive off, those conroe's are looking pretty good.

i am a huge fan of AMD
I have never bought intel, because back then earlier when i started to know computer, Intel's price way to high(around yr2003).
even until now, intels 3GHz fsb800 priced almost twice to AMD64 3000+

my first build was an AthlonXP 2000+ with MSI K7N2-DeltaL and never really could OC it
(still, thanx for the help jam, really appreciate it!)

after that Athlon 64 kicks in, and i made my way to upgrade my comp. and i never regret i bought this Athlon 64. look at my sig.
sucks for the VGA though, even after that high of OC ing, GRAW and Deco Online still laggy at lowest settings.

as for intel, i'm kinda intersted in THG says "A 4ghz processor for $140!!" about PentiumD 805, but now after AMD cut their pricing,
A64X2 3800+ will be better than 805. :D

if i'm being questioned why i like AMD, i'll answer as simple as this,
put performance ratings apart, then an amd processor could beat intel's processor at the same clockspeed (on the same processor generation).

Athlon 64 2800+ @ 2.63 Ghz Stock Cooling
Timings:2-3-2-5
V-Gen 512MB pc3200
DFI Lanparty UT NF3
Abit R9550 VGuru XTurbo
525Mhz/300Mhz

I'm the kinda guy that at a football game cheers for the winning team. I apply that philosophy to processors. I have always had an intel, but have always wondered how my games would run under an AMD CPU, but it appears as though the tables have turned now.

Intel may for a brief while get the performance crown back. Being as intel has finally adopted the performance per clock-cycle attitude, and finally done away with the Netburst architecture(which concentrated on high clock speeds to obtain its performance). I think I just might stick with them and see what develops. I give credit to intel for not only focusing on CPUs, intel has produced amazing technologies as well, such as AGP, PCI-Exprees, DDR2 just to name a few.

People have to remember that AMD and Intel are competing for our business, and whoever yields the best performance per price ratio wins my loyalty.

My system:

Prescott 2.8Ghz Oc'ed @ 3.6Ghz; 5:4 ratio
Abit Is7-E Motherboard, i865-PE Chipset
Muskin pc3200 Enhanced, 412Mhz; 2.5-3-3-6
Pny 6800nu; 430Mhz 820Mhz; (16p,5vp)
Two 36Gb Raptors in raid0 array
Thermatlake 480watt PSU

Yeah man if you can crank that 3800+ X2 to 3ghz, you will be around Core 2 Duo benchmarks relm.

I always liked Intel but then again the only AMD I had was a old intergrated one. I really never used that computer much either. I heard that Intel is better at Multi Tasking and AMD is better at Single Tasking such as a game. I have 17 drivers and programs running in the back ground and I run games. Im sure AMD could do the same though. On PC Gamer they say that Intel is making a new processor code named Conroe that has a 40% increase in speed and a 40% decrease in voltage. Im sure AMD will make something like this also though.
